Stories from Surrogate Mothers (retire)

Araceli's Story

Carried a singleton for an intended family in 2021
Araceli, a single mother, made a life-changing decision to become a surrogate in order to assist another family in their quest for parenthood. Her co-worker, who was carrying twins for an intending family, introduced her to the concept of surrogacy in 2019. The story of her colleague's experience struck a chord with Araceli, leaving her eager to pursue surrogacy herself in the future. She saw this as a perfect opportunity to help another family while waiting to expand her own. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic brought her surrogacy plans to a halt in 2020. Despite this setback, Araceli shared her dream of becoming a surrogate with loved ones and vowed to commit to it when the time was right.

In the summer of 2021, when everything was moving towards a new normal, Araceli decided that she was ready to begin her surrogacy journey. She searched for a surrogacy agency and found NWSC. From the very beginning, she felt highly valued and cared for by NWSC. They were there for her and the intended family, every step of the way, helping them focus on gradually building a relationship throughout the pregnancy. When it was time for them to meet in real life, they were more than ready. They hung out almost every other day for a full month. The intended family already had two daughters, aged 5 and 7, through previous surrogacies, and Araceli had her 6-year-old son. These three children played, fought, and loved like siblings. It truly felt as if their family had grown, which was certainly the case in the end.

Araceli’s experience as a surrogate was an extraordinary one. She was grateful for the opportunity to help another family grow, and she knew that their journey wasn’t ever over because they would continue nurturing the lifelong relationship they had created. Araceli’s advice for other surrogates is that if they have ever had that warm tugging feeling in their heart, where helping another family grow brings a smile to their face, they should go for it. Not one journey is the same, and it’s important to remember that the impact they would be making in another family's world is incomparable. They should also remember that they’re never alone. NWSC has built such an amazing support system through who they work with along the way, as well as a beautiful group of surrogates who will be there for them if they need some extra support.
