What is a repeat surrogate?
A repeat surrogate, or an experienced surrogate, is someone who has successfully completed a previous surrogacy journey and chooses to carry again. Many surrogates find the experience so rewarding that they decide to help another family, or even the same family, grow!
Why choose to be a repeat surrogate?
Women who return for another journey often do so because they:
- Had a positive first experience and want to help another family
- Feel a strong connection to the surrogacy community and their intended parents
- Enjoy the benefits of compensation, pregnancy, and emotional fulfillment

Benefits of being a repeat surrogate
If you’ve already been through a surrogacy journey, you bring valuable experience to the process. Whether this be through NWSC, independently or with another agency, many intended parents specifically seek out repeat surrogates. Some of the reasons intended parents may seek out experienced surrogates are they:
✔ Understand the medical and legal process.
✔ Have a proven history of healthy pregnancies.
✔ Are familiar with the emotional aspects of surrogacy.
Higher compensation for repeat surrogates
How much do surrogates make for a repeat journey? Many surrogacy agencies offer higher base compensation for repeat surrogates as a way to recognize their experience and commitment. Compensation varies, but repeat surrogates receive an increased base fee in addition to medical and living expenses. At NWSC, experienced surrogates earn an additional $10,000 of base compensation. We’ll update background checks on you, your partner, and any adult household members. You will likely need to have an updated psychological consultation. If you have moved since your last surrogacy, you will need to repeat the home visit. Additionally, we require brief interviews for repeat NWSC surrogates and their partners. However, if they are new to us, they have to do our full 90-120 minute interview. Click here to see an outline of the repeat surrogate screening process.
