Araceli's Story
“If you’ve ever had that warm tugging feeling in your heart, where helping another family grow brings a smile to your face, go for it!”
I first heard about surrogacy through my co-worker in 2019. His partner was carrying twins for an intending family from New York and my team got to hear all about their journey towards the end. I imagined how fun and exciting it must be for her to be carrying their babies for them! I also thought it was super cool for them to be spending time with the parents when they were in town, before and after delivery. Once hearing of their experience, I immediately felt it in my heart that this was something I wanted to pursue for myself one day!
I’ve been a single mama for about 6 years now and have always looked forward to the day I get to start growing my own family again. After hearing about my co-workers story with surrogacy, I knew this was going to be a perfect opportunity to help another family in the meantime! Although with COVID hitting in 2020, it definitely put a pause in this new endeavor of mine. I took this time to start sharing with my friends and family about how this is something I’d love to do one day. Truly allowing myself to commit and go all in when the time came.
When everything started moving towards a new normal in summer of 2021, I knew I was ready to begin my surrogacy journey and that this was something my mind had been set on, since first hearing of it back in 2019. Waiting those couple of years had immensely grown my passion to help another family! I simply searched “Surrogacy Agency” in my Google Maps, and there NWSC was. I clicked on their location, went to the website, peeked around for a bit and then submitted my interest form. I quickly received a call a few days after that and then 3 months later, I was connected with the most wonderful family!
From the very beginning, I felt highly valued and cared for by NWSC. They were there for me and the intended family, every step of the way! This helped us focus on gradually building a relationship throughout the pregnancy so that when it was time for us to meet in real life, we’d be more than ready. It had been almost a full year since choosing to move forward with each other and the moment we met face to face, it was so incredible to see our bond come to fruition! We hung out almost every other day for a full month. They already had two daughters 5 and 7, through previous surrogacies, and I had my 6 year old son. These 3 played, fought, and loved like siblings. It truly felt as if our family had grown, which was certainly the case in the end! I’m so grateful for this extraordinary experience and know that our journey isn’t ever over, because we’ll continue nurturing the lifelong relationship we’ve created.
If you’ve ever had that warm tugging feeling in your heart, where helping another family grow brings a smile to your face, go for it! Or maybe sit on that feeling for a while like I did. Not one journey is the same and I feel like that’s so important when walking into this next step of your life. There may be similarities between your experience and someone else’s, but the impact you’d be making in another family’s world is incomparable. And please don’t forget that you’re never alone. NWSC has built such an amazing support system through who you work with along the way, as well as a beautiful group of surrogates who will also be there for you if you need some extra support! I wish you the best of luck with your future endeavors and thank you for allowing me to share a small snippet of my story with you.
