Bayleigh's Story
“Watching someone hold their whole world in their hands for the first time, knowing you helped make that happen, is just so amazing.”
I first heard about surrogacy as a teenager when I met a surrogate, and I’ve been fascinated by it ever since. I always thought it was something I would love to do, but I didn’t seriously consider it until after I had my own pregnancies. Both of my pregnancies were great, which only deepened my interest in becoming a surrogate.
I have two children, an almost 7-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, and I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for almost 8 years. When I first shared my interest in surrogacy with the people in my life, they met me with nothing but encouragement and thought it was such a wonderful idea. I’m so fortunate to have an amazing support system, which has been incredibly important throughout this journey.
I’m a hairdresser and actually found Northwest Surrogacy Center through a client at our salon. She was telling me about her friend’s journey as a surrogate through NWSC, so I asked for more information. I applied and received a call from one of their Surrogate Coordinators, and right away I could tell NWSC was a great fit. I truly don’t have enough words for how amazing they made this experience. From start to finish, they were so supportive. I never felt in the dark or unsure about anything. They really held my hand through the entire process.

Ready to become a parent?
After I completed screening, matching with a family happened quickly. Our first match meeting was wonderful. The intended parents and I had an instant connection, and everything felt so natural. As soon as my husband and I got off the Zoom call, we knew it was a match. I was so excited to help a gay couple have the child they had been dreaming of.
Throughout the surrogacy, my relationship with the intended dads was incredible. We communicated so well and have truly become like family. After giving birth, our relationship continued. We still text almost every day, and they keep me updated with photos of surro-babe!
Seeing the dads hold their baby for the first time was indescribable. It truly is the second-best thing to holding your own babies. Watching someone hold their whole world in their hands for the first time, knowing you helped make that happen, is just so amazing. My intended dads have even asked me to do a sibling journey for them, and I absolutely said yes. We’ve built such a special relationship, and I would love to help them grow their family again.
If I could give advice to someone considering surrogacy, I’d be honest and say that it can be hard at times, there’s no sugarcoating it. But the good truly outweighs the hard. It may just be the most fulfilling thing you ever do, so I’d say go for it!
