Katy celebrated her four-year workiversary as a Case Manager at NWSC this summer!

Reflecting on four years at NWSC Katy says, “No two surrogacies have been the same so far! Humans are so wonderfully different. There is a special magic to complete strangers uniting to achieve something so precious. I love watching the relationship between surrogates and intended parents grow and I am also so grateful for a job full of continuous reminders of incredible human kindness both from our surrogates, intended parents, and my wonderful coworkers.”

Three fun facts about Katy:

  1. She lived in a van in Australia
  2. She has jumped out of a plane at 18,000 feet elevation
  3. She has strong grandma vibes – she loves gardening (with sun protection!), having long conversations with her cat, and driving slowly.

If Katy could share only one tip for a successful relationship for both intended parents and surrogates it would be: “Communicate! This is such a human process and it isn’t always easy. Communicating with each other (and your case manager!) about the ups and the downs will help everyone stay on the same page and develop trust. It’s okay for communication to feel a bit awkward as you get to know each other, and that’s what your case manager is here for! Your case manager is happy to help facilitate communication while you establish a relationship with each other.”

Her wicked sense of humor, fun fashion sense and caring personality make her a dream to work with, from everyone’s perspective – families, surrogates and co-workers. Thank you, Katy!
