We look forward to speaking with you. At Northwest Surrogacy Center, we work with Intended Parents who have a documented medical need for surrogacy or are unable to safely carry a pregnancy. This ensures the process is medically appropriate, ethically sound, and aligned with established clinical guidelines. Learn more about our medical need requirements.

What Qualifies as a Medical Need?

At NW Surrogacy Center, intended parents must have a physical or medical reason that prevents them from carrying a pregnancy, or safely carrying a pregnancy on their own. We approach the conversation with potential intended parents with compassion and without judgment.

For male same-sex couples, a medical need is inherent, as a gestational carrier is required to carry the pregnancy.

Single intended fathers also meet the medical need requirement.

Trans or LGBTQ+ intended parents, who might physically be able to carry but it poses significant psychological stress, also qualify.

For intended mothers, this is typically confirmed by their U.S. medical doctor or a fertility clinic.

Common examples include:

    • Absence of a uterus (congenital or surgical)
    • History of recurrent pregnancy loss
    • Repeated failed IVF cycles
    • Medical conditions that make pregnancy unsafe (e.g., cardiac conditions, kidney disease, certain cancer history, previous strokes, clotting disorders)
    • Current medication that cannot be discontinued but is contraindicated for pregnancy
    • Prior complicated pregnancies where another pregnancy would pose significant risk
    • In some cases, a qualified mental health professional may determine that pregnancy would pose a significant risk to a woman’s mental health, and surrogacy may be determined to be the safest path forward.
